A cataract occurs when the natural and clear lens inside your eyes that helps to focus light and allows images to be seen sharply begins to form a cloudy layer. The lens slowly becomes opaque as the eye ages. As the lens becomes cloudy, light cannot pass through easily, and the images become blurry. The cloudy lens is a cataract.

Dr. Smith uses the most advanced techniques and state of the art equipment when performing cataract surgery. Several options of intra-ocular lens (IOL) implants are available. Crystalens®, ReSTOR®, and Technis Multifocal™ lens implants to help you to achieve your life style needs.

After surgery, you can expect your vision to be blurry for a couple of days. it is not uncommon to experience slight redness and discomfort for several days to a week while your eye is healing. Remember that each patient is different and you might encounter other effects after surgery; please call the office with any questions or concerns.

Cataract surgery is a routine surgery that is done daily and is covered by most insurances.

Dr. Smith performs surgery at St. Mark’s Surgical Center and Doctor’s Outpatient Surgery.
